The last couple mornings, Dec 27-29, there has been substantial morning fog at Seagate Beach.
The below photographs were taken on December 28th from approximately 8am till 9am. I went with the idea there would be interesting landscape shots but had no idea there would be a pelican feeding frenzy. My morning walk slowly came to a halt photographing the aerial pelican display. I shot images below with a Canon 7D 15-85mm lens (remember x 1.6 on crop sensors to equate length of lens, basically equivalent to a 24-105mm).
The photographs shot to the south, into the fog, have an overexposed and colorless feel. When I shot to the North the images had incredible color because of the lack of fog and the blue sky color reflected down into the serenely calm Gulf of Mexico waters. I never cease to be amazed at how the same light can produce such a variety of possibilities. Remember, all the images were taken within approximately an hours time and are in chronological order.
